A Fast Offshore Cruiser - 19. Conclusions. |
This has been a very useful learning tool, not just of the process of producing a design of a vessel but also of the need to manage time and resources. The need of an effective design spiral, and keeping to it, has been highlighted to the author, who feels that future work will be organised much better therefore producing improved designs.
The author feels that the design produced satisfies the requirements of the design brief though, as always, there is room for improvement. The VPP has shown that the boat will be fast, the stability and flooding analysis show the abilities of the hull to provide safety for the crew in various damage situations. The design of the hull to produce a comfortable motion can not be said to work until the design has actually been built and used but the author whole heartily believes that the concepts will work.
If this design were to be repeated the author, from his experiences here, would be able to integrate the various areas of the design work, e.g. GA and structures, much better to produce an improved yacht that would be even better that the one shown here.
